REINHARD HARDEGEN
(1913 – 2018) German U-boat commander who sank 22 ships, amounting to 115,656 gross register tons (GRT), making him the 24th most successful U-boat commander in World War II. Lot of two war-date signed items, includes: war-date signed photo 4 x 5 3/4 in. boldly signed at bottom,comes with a printed form letter hand-signed in black ink, ‘On Board’, Jan. 30, 1942, acknowledging congratulations for his receipt of the Oak Leaves and sending the photo. Two pieces, fine.
