Flt Lt Dick Starkey – pilot – 106 Squadron (22 sortees over Germany, shot down, spent 18 mths in Stalag luft 3) Following Dick being shot down he broke both legs on impact with the ground. He spent a short time in a German prisoner hospital. The guards they made him and 500 others walk many miles to the prison camp. No stragglers were survivors so even with two severly damaged legs he had to keep up. A real hero of the WW2.
