GERD VON RUNDSTEDT
(1875 – 1953) German field marshal who led the blitzkrieg attack on France, seizing the country within two weeks, defeated by Allied forces in Normandy and in the desperate Battle of the Bulge. a hand-addressed postcard, Breslau, Oct 3, 1931, to KURT VON SCHLEICHER (1882–1934), the penultimate chancellor of Germany during the Weimar Republic. A rival for power with Adolf Hitler, Schleicher was murdered by Hitler’s SS during the Night of the Long Knives in 1934. Partially translated, apparently sending congratulations. Fine.
