KALTENBRUNNER ERNST: (1903-1946) Austrian SS-Obergruppenfuhrer, Director of the Reich Security Main Office 1943-45 and President of Interpol 1943-45. D.S., Dr Kaltenbrunner, Vienna, 20th April 1938, in German. The partially printed document, completed in typescript, is addressed to the SS Personnel Department in Berlin and relates to SS-Standartenfuhrer Dr. Friedrich Rainer, requesting that he be relieved of his duties and simultaneously appointed as leader of the SS-Oberabschnittes in Austria. Friedrich Rainer (1903-1947) Austrian Nazi Party politician who served as a Gauleiter and Reichsstatthalter (Reich Governor) during World War II, and is notable for being the only Austrian governor who has ever held the same office in two separate states.
