U 192 wurde am 06.05.1943 im Nordatlantik südlich von Kap Farewell durch Wasserbomben der britischen Korvette HMS LOOSETRIEFE (K.105) versenkt. Das Boot befand sich am Geleitzug ONS-5. Die Kriegsschiffe gehörten zur Escort Group B-7, die den Geleitzug sicherten.
