A Hitler, one page, Fuhrer’s Headquarters, 23rd November 1944, in German. The typed document is a military appointment and orders that, with effect from 24th November 1944, General of Artillery Ziegler, entrusted with the deputy leadership of the 14th Army, will be replaced by General Herr, Commanding General of the LXXVI Panzerkorps. Signed by Hitler in dark fountain pen ink at the foot and countersigned by Wilhelm Burgdorf (1895-1945) German General, Knight’s Cross winner.VG Heinz Ziegler (1894-1972) German General of World War II, Knight’s Cross winner. Ziegler was Commander of the 5th Panzer Army 1942-43 and of the 14th Army for a month from October-November 1944. Traugott Herr (1890-1976) German General of World War II, Knight’s Cross winner with Oakleaves and Swords. He was Commander of the 14th Army from November-December 1944 and Commander of the 10th Army from February-May 1945. Burgdorf had been appointed Chief Adjutant to Hitler and Chief of the Army Personnel Office in October 1944. Just over six months after signing the present document Hitler committed suicide in the Fuhrerbunker. Burgdorf also committed suicide in the Fuhrerbunker on 2nd May 1945 at the conclusion of the Battle of Berlin.
